N.J. CHIPS
Freemasons have long been committed to children and families through our scholarship program, childrenxs learning centers, model student assistance program and sponsorship of youth groups. New Jersey Freemasons have been conducting child identification programs for a number of years and we are proud to offer this expanded program called NJCHIP. The previous program consisted of a single photo and fingerprinting. The new program adds a short video interview and a dental imprint called Toothprints. Toothprints is a technique developed by r. David Tesini, a Massachusetts childrenxs Dentist and incorporated into CHIP by Dr. David Harte, a Massachusetts Freemason. These additions make CHIP the most comprehensive childrens ID program available.

A parent's worst nightmare is the disappearance of a child. In todays society with over one million children being reported missing each year, we are committed to helping address this problem.

NJCHIP is designed to give families a measure of protection against this ever-increasing problem. NJCHIP provides Law Enforcement with important tools to assist in the speedy and safe recovery of a missing child. Through the benevolence of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey and its membership we are pleased to present this service free of charge. We are grateful to the New Jersey Dental Association for their support in providing Dental professionals to conduct the Toothprint portion of the program and to the various Law Enforcement agencies for providing the professionals to conduct the fingerprinting portion.

New Jersey Freemasons are committed to offering this program to the families of New Jersey on an ongoing basis.

WHAT IS NJCHIP

New Jersey Child Identification Program addresses the alarming fact that more and more children are reported missing each year. While most are found, many are not.
NJCHIP is part of MASONICHIP, an initiative of North American Freemason's Grand Lodges, that generates completed packages of various identifying items of children for parents or guardians. ALL of the identifying materials generated by the program are given to the childs family. We retain none of the information. The program is offered to the public at NO CHARGE.

The NJCHIP program consists of the following:

  • Photograph: A digital still photo is provided, which the Police can distribute quickly and easily.
  • Videotape: A brief videotaped interview, designed to capture the speech, mannerisms and other important characteristics of the child. This digital video can be distributed easily to the media to reach a huge audience.
  • Fingerprinting: Fingerprinting is a long established means of identification. Everyonexs fingerprints are unique.
  • Toothprint: A bite impression of the child's teeth, which is quick and easy. Like fingerprints, teeth are also unique and even in a child who is gaining and losing teeth, provides accurate and valuable information with the added and perhaps more important benefit of DNA and scent.
